Hospital breaks ground on center May 13, 2007Posted by Dreamhealer in Healing.
Griffin Hospital and city officials smiled as they pushed shovels into the wet ground Friday, ceremoniously starting construction of the $27.3 million, 49,000-square-foot Ambulatory Care Pavilion and Community Cancer Center.
The center will be built on a 4-acre parcel on Seymour Avenue near Route 8. The three-story facility is expected to open in fall 2008.
Griffin President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Charmel said the new facility will have “sacred spaces” and will focus on spiritual well-being, not just physical healing.
“Design teams went around the country to look at facilities for ideas to create an enclave in an urban area,” Charmel said. “When you walk through the front door of the new center, you will look at a beautiful healing garden.”
