Leaving room for life’s miracles May 13, 2007

A terminal diagnosis, after all, doesn’t leave much wiggle room.As for that pinch, the odds remain slight that medical science will turn up an effective and available treatment for Lou Gehrig’s disease any time soon.

That leaves two options: spontaneous remission and divine intervention.

In other words, miracles.

A pair of recent occurrences compelled me to address this potentially ticklish topic.

April 10 marked what would have been my father’s 103rd birthday. He died in 1971.

I also recently attended the 26th annual memorial service for Father Aloysius Ellacuria, a Claretian priest renowned for his mastery of languages, his piety and, above all, for healing the sick.  Read More….
