vegiesMany of us are searching for or returning to a more natural way of life. In an effort to retreat from our materialistic, unnatural lifestyles, or simply because we’re living longer and wish to maintain good health, Irish people are increasingly turning to organic produce, corn-fed chicken and, more simply and effectively, adding a juicer to the kitchen.

The answer to many illnesses and conditions lie in nature. Eating healthy foods has been shown to reduce cancer rates by between 30 and 60 per cent, which indeed are encouraging statistics!

Groups of people around the world, such as the Hunzas of the Himalayas and the Vilcamba in Equador, follow nutritious diets of natural, unrefined foods, often live to over 100 years of age, and are literally free of serious conditions such as cancer. Their secret to longevity consists of rich mineral water, soya, barley, and natural fibre foods such as leafy green vegetables, berries, and grains.

The Mediterranean diet of tomatoes, olives, garlic, and grapes has also been shown to lower the risk of cancer. The Indian diet uses little meat or sugar. Green tea is a favourite in Asian countries. Other indigenous groups such as the Aborigines, Northern American Indians, and Polynesians rarely suffer from modern-day life-threatening conditions until they began to follow the over-refined diet of the West.
