A diagnosis of cancer can be devastating. Patients must suddenly come to grips with a life-altering medical condition with possible deadly consequences. They are thrust into an unfamiliar world of specialists, strange medical terminology and many rounds of testing. Through each step in the process of diagnosis and treatment, patients must make important decisions regarding their care.
Treatment can cause many different side-effects. Chemotherapy can lead to anemia, fatigue, memory problems, hair loss, increased risk for infection, pain, changes in appetite, constipation, diarrhea and/or nausea and vomiting.
