Ginger Inhibits Ovarian Cancer Cell Growth January 4, 2008

Posted by Dreamhealer in Healing.

Ginger inhibits the growth of ovarian cancer cells, and also modulates the secretion of angiogenic factors.

Angiogenesis is the growth of new blood vessels from pre-existing vessels. While it is a normal process of growth and development, it is also a fundamental step in the transition of tumors from a dormant state to a malignant state.

Ginger treatment of cultured ovarian cancer cells induced profound growth inhibition in all cell lines tested. Recent studies have shown that ginger root has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects as well as anti-carcinogenic ones.
